Listening to the match unfold on the radio, it felt impossible to predict what would happen next. Lionel Messi seemed to be leading Argentina to victory, only for Kylian Mbappé to pull France back into the contest with a remarkable hat-trick. The momentum shifted again and again, making it one of those rare matches where every few minutes seemed to change the story.

Looking back, what stays with me is not only Argentina lifting the trophy, but the quality of the contest itself. During the 2026 World Cup, people still talk about Mbappé's hat-trick as readily as Messi's triumph, which perhaps says everything about the match. It was a final in which both sides left an unforgettable mark.

This drawing is my record of one of those occasions, when two exceptional teams produced a final that will be remembered for many years.
